 Architecture design solution

The slope which level difference was 1, 45 m, stretched from southwest to Northeast. This topographic characteristic led to split level solution: First floor and other higher floors of the construction’s part, which was from axis B toward street, were raised about half a floor compared to the rest. Thus, the elevations of North and East basement were almost exposed. This helped access and natural lighting from the North and East become ventilated and convenient, this also help to improve efficiency of construction usage. This solution also minimized the amount of dirt which was leveled when leveling ground.

An atrium located between two slit-level. Atrium was a diverse connected space and had vivid interior, which has been designed in many student’s house around the world. People could have a general look of all floor from almost anywhere in the hall, this helped navigation become easier.  Standing in the hall, user could not only know all activities happening in the construction, but they were also encouraged to participate in those activities. The main stairs have been located in this hall; travel direction depended on the order of floors’ height. Spacious landings have been entrances to floors and have also been places to stop and rest without interrupting traffic due to a wider area than usual. Here, staircase has not only been a way to travel but it has also been an interesting place to communicate. In terms of structure, an atrium helped a connecting space between two levels become less sophisticated.

Staircase and corridor have been located on the West and Northwest in order to avoid evening sunlight for main spaces. The West corridor has had windows so as to avoid rain during storm. Canteen hasn’t had wall in order to create an open and wide space;

Construction’s roof has had two parts, which have been all metal roof, one sloped down towards the North and the other sloped down toward the South, it has been convenient for floor elevation of the split level building below, this structure has reflected the motto: form of the construction express its content. The metal roof solution has not only helped reduce weight of the construction but it has also been suitable for hot and humid climate with heavy rain. The metal roof has lined with PU layer along with well-ventilated attic would assure a perfect insulation and less noise when it rains. The roof‘s part above the atrium has been covered with a polycarbonate panel which has allowed sunlight come through in order to make the atrium more active.
